In the current issue of the PHOTOGRAPHIE magazine 7-8/2020 one of my pictures was published once again. Here is the (true) story about it that is printed beside the photo:
A journey into the history of photography. Following the footsteps of Edward Weston and Ansel Adams, professional photographer Kai Rogler traveled to California to explore the last places where the two American photographic legends worked and to take pictures using their style. Looking back on the experience, he reports: „After a job there, I spent a few days visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea and Big Sur in the footsteps of Edward Weston and Ansel Adams, who both spent the rest of their lives there. There I also tried to photograph in their style. To what extent I succeeded in this should better be judged by others. Eine Reise in die Fotogeschichte. Auf den Spuren von Edward Weston und Ansel Adams bereiste Fotoprofi Kai Rogler Kalifornien, um die letzten Wirkungsstätten der beiden US-amerikanischen Fotolegenden selbst zu erkunden und sich ihrem Stil anzunehmen. Rückblickend auf die Erfahrung berichtet er: „Im Anschluss an einen Job dort besuchte ich einige Tage Carmel-by-the-Sea und Big Sur auf den Spuren von Edward Weston und Ansel Adams, die beide dort ihren Lebensabend verbrachten. Dort habe ich auch versucht, in deren Stil zu fotografieren. Inwieweit mir das gelungen ist, sollten besser andere beurteilen.
