Windhoek Fashion Week

So, as already assumed, I am back in Namibia again to meet my new friends here – and to visit the Windhoek Fashion Week! Johanna sent me a hint that everyone can apply for an accreditation last week and after I sent a link to my website to the organizer, I got it the next day.
After having had a good flight with Ethiopian via addis Abeba, I met and surprised Martha and Lucy (model and make-up artist from the calendar shooting this year) with my presence in Namibia. Unfortunately, I couldn’t surprise Johanna because she attended the briefing for the Fashion Week instead of me and fetched my media pass while I was still on my way to Windhoek.
When the first event of the Fasion Week had been cancelled yesterday, Martha and I went to Klaus‘ farm in Karibib because I should attend a meeting with the boss of the marble mining company. Also this meeting has been cancelled on short notice and so Martha and I had the time to meet some friends in Karibib and Usakos before we drove back to Windhoek where I did take pictures at the Fashion Week this evening. It’s really not my kind of pictures that you can take at a fashion event and after changing from the catwalk to backstage, the pictures didn’t get better, but it became much more fun! 🙂

Wie bereits erwartet, hänge ich schon wieder in Namibia rum, um meine neuen Freunde zu besuchen – und an der Windhoek Fashion Week teilzunehmen! Johanna hatte mir letzte Woche einen Hinweis geschickt, dass man sich u.a. als Fotograf für eine Akkreditierung bewerben kann und nachdem ich den Organisatoren einen Link zu meiner Webseite geschickt hatte, habe ich die am nächsten Tag auch bekommen.
Nach einem weitgehend angenehmen Flug mit Ethiopian über Addis Abeba, habe ich mich gleich mit Martha und Lucy (Model und Visagistin vom diesjährigen Kalendershooting) getroffen und sie mit meiner Anwesenheit in Namibia überrascht. Leider konnte ich Johanna nicht überraschen, weil sie für mich am Briefing für die Fashion Week teilgenommen und meinen Presseausweis besorgt hat, während ich noch auf dem Weg nach Windhoek war.
Als die erste Veranstaltung der Fashion Week gestern abgesagt wurde, sind Martha und ich gleich auf Klaus‘ Farm in Karibib gefahren, wo ich an einer Besprechung mit dem Chef der Marmorförderfirma teilnehmen sollte. Auch dieses Meeting wurde kurzfristig abgesagt, so dass Martha und ich Zeit hatten, einige Freunde in Karibib und Usakos zu besuchen, bevor wir zurück nach Windhoek gefahren sind, wo ich heute Abend auf der Fashion Week fotografiert habe. Das ist ja nun wirklich nicht meine Art von Fotografie und nach dem Wechsel vom Laufsteg zum Backstage-Bereich wurden die Bilder zwar nicht besser, aber es wurde deutlich lustiger! 🙂
